These baskets are made in the Munyumbwe area of Zambia. The baskets from the BaTonga tribe in Munyumbwe are always very sturdy and strong due to the double walled weaving style that the locals in this region have created. The BaTonga tribe in Zambia and Zimbabwe are very closely related due to the fact that the two countries used to be one and known as Rhodesia. These baskets are also still used in their traditional purpose

Number 10-25 :

These beautiful, traditional, and intricately woven Rwanda fair trade baskets are all individually hand woven by a group of women who are part of a weaving cooperative in Rwanda. Each basket is expertly woven and is a wonderful work of art. The baskets are created from dyed natural sisal fibres which are woven over a core of forest grasses.

Baskets work well in any home no matter the style, from traditional African themed décor to an ultra-modern home. If you don’t want your baskets on the wall why not use them as a fruit bowl or as a centre piece on your coffee or dining table.

The baskets are incredibly easy to hang, you can either string a piece of cotton through the weave at the back of the basket, or you can simply knock a thin nail through the centre into a gap in the weave directly into your wall. Neither method will damage your basket. The Rwanda baskets have a fabric loop on the back of the basket for hanging.
